New traffic signs in place

Attention all, in an effort to slow down motorists and increase safety for residents and visitors to the Beaver Street Extension area in Ray City, the intersection of Beaver Street Extension and Oak Street is now a three- way stop intersection. The new signs are in place as of 5-26-2026.

There will be a thirty (30) day grace period given to the public before any citations are written for violating the stop sign(s). On Monday 6-29-2026 and moving forward, any motorists observed by Law Enforcement failing to adhere to the stop sign(s) will be subjected to enforcement action.

Any questions regarding the placement of the traffic control devices can be directed to the Chief of Police.

Please keep in mind the City Hall will be closed on Friday July 3, 2026 in observance of the Holiday on Saturday July 4, 2026. We will reopen on Monday July 6, 2026 at 8:00 AM resuming our normal scheduled hours.

As we celebrate our nation’s independence, the City of Ray City wishes everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July holiday!

Please remember to:

Use fireworks responsibly and follow all local and state laws.

Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby when using fireworks or grilling.

Supervise children at all times during holiday activities.

Be mindful of emergency vehicles and obey Georgia’s Move Over Law.

Stay hydrated and take breaks from the summer heat.

Let’s work together to make this Independence Day enjoyable and safe for everyone. Have a wonderful holiday filled with family, friends, and community pride!

Water/Sewer Maintenance Employee
The City of Ray City is accepting applications for a Water/Sewer Employee
Duties Include:
 Installing, repairing, and maintaining water and sewer lines
 Reading water meters
 Locating underground utility lines
 Operating equipment and tools used in utility maintenance
 Responding to water and sewer emergencies, including after-hours callouts
 Performing general maintenance and labor duties as assigned
Qualifications:
 High school diploma or GED preferred
 Valid Georgia driver’s license required
 Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in varying weather conditions
 Experience in water/sewer maintenance is preferred but not required
 Must be dependable and able to work independently and as part of a team
